Peter Odemwingie: A dream start in the English Premiership

On Friday 20th of August 2010, the English premiership welcomed a new addition to it arsenal of international stars. Nigeria striker Peter Odemwingie joined Premier League side West Brom on a two-year-deal for an unrevealed fee from Lokomotiv Moscow. Odemwingie who was born in Uzbekistan but opted to play for the country of his father Nigeria has 51 international caps . He received his work permit on the day the deal was sealed and scored on his debut for his new club on Saturday.
Peter’s journey to the ply his trade in the Premiership has been a bit of a long one, playing in countries such as Nigeria, France and Romania

Peter Odemwingie has represented Nigeria at various international levels

“I couldn’t refuse the chance to come play in the Premier League, It feels great to score on my debut and I am glad that I was welcomed by everybody at the club with open arms. I owe this to the club, my agent and my loved ones who made the transfer possible.” He said in a post match interview.

Peter Odemwingie’s goal couldn’t have come at a better time. Still reeling from the 6-0 thrashing it suffered in the hands of Chelsea in the opening day of the premiership, Westbrom needed to take full advantage of its home support and secure their first point of the season at home to Sunderland.
“Peter’s goal was crucial we hope it gives us the much needed lift we need to kick-start our season” said delighted coach Roberto Di Matteo
