Minding Osi Peters and his 1000000smiles Campaign Bizness

 During this holiday season, many of us will go shopping; spend loads of money on gifts for family, friends and loved ones.  But have you ever thought of those less fortunate than yourself?! I came across the 1,000,000 Smiles. Amebor will be teaming up with Osi Peters and his 1,000,000 Smiles campaign, to get the word out there.  Here is my interview with Osi:

How did you come up with the idea of the 1000000Smiles Campaign?

It was inspired by wanting to answer the simple, “Is there really value in combining all our individual social networks to achieve one aim?” And I personally give to charity every year so it’s an extension of what I already do.

Explain the process of the 1000000smiles campaign.

The process is simple, (1) take a photo with a smile, (2) email it to photos@1000000smiles.com. (3)Decide how much impact you feel comfortable making, and select a smile package that meets your need (this step is optional). Our volunteers will take care of the rest.  Our volunteers put your photo on our wall, a montage of photos.  We also create real greeting cards with the photos (probably using the montage)

Where will the proceeds be going to?

We will distribute the cards and the money we raise to the organizations that can actually help the children in need.

What organizations will be receiving these proceeds from 1000000smiles?

The organizations of choice are Save The Children, FACE Africa (WWW.FACEAFRICA.ORG), and I’m working on a few more.

That’s really nice, so what are the future plans of Osi and the 1000000smiles campaign?

No long term plans for 1000000smiles at the moment.  It is truly an organic campaign and I’ll take it as it comes, so being flexible is the planJ.  As for me personally, I do a number of things but I’ll rather show than tell.
