As most people already know, Nigerians all over the world celebrated the 49th independence of our beloved country Nigeria. The Nigerian Students Association of the university of Cincinnati were no exception either, they showed the true Nigerian spirit of making things happen by organizing their first ever independence day party. For many that showed up from all around Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana. it was one to remember for years to come and as one of the members of the association said “ it’s a true sign that contrary to what people think, Nigerians can still come together and make things happen”.
The door opened around 10pm and till the door closed at 3 am people were coming in and enjoying the true feeling of what it feels like to be a celebrity on the red carpet. Dj Tiz didn’t disappoint either as he played various forms of Nigerian music that took people back to how it’s done in naija. Also adding to the wonderful night was a performance by a member of the association and a rising star of SoundSaviour sounds jiro who performed his newly released single “holla” and to which most people in attendance believed that Nigerian hip hop industry surely has something big coming its way.
To all Nigerians present even though some people believe Nigeria is still crawling at age 49,hope in the good things to come is what the party stands for and as one of the organizers put it, Nigeria has always been and will surely remain the giant of Africa.
