As one will expect, Nigerians in the DC/ Maryland and VA area showed up like they always do to meaningful events. This time it was the Nigerian Independence day celebration, hosted by Mr. Solitude’s Party Addicts WorldWide, Genesis Ent., and Soso Selective.
It’s pertinent to note that some New Yorkers, faces from New Jersey and the neighboring Philly area were in the building, with DJ Zimo doing what he does best.
Stepping into the Mall-looking Club Love, I couldn’t help but notice the green and white balloons hanging from the banisters. To complete the mood for a Naija independence day party was the best of Naija rhythm, both new and old school. Yes, DJ Zimo gave a good account of himself.
I also have to mention that the naija girls in the building were at their best, with minimal fronting. And yes, some kudos goes to the guys too – no fight broke out
I will like to give some credit to the organizers as they selected a venue that befits a Nigeria Independence day party. The floor we were was spacious yet filled to the brim, yet with enough space for the grinders to grind on one another, and also move around.
And another important thing often overlooked by promoters, Ventilation!! This venue was well ventilated, so there was no (un)funny smell – from weaves, braids or from refusal to use deodorants :/
By 4am the party was over, leaving enough time for the drive to NYC for the Parade
