Red Carpet and Night of a 1001 laughs

I always like these Nights at the reunion, may be because we have a sense of humor that makes people think we are crazy! When you throw Jedi, Seyi Brown, Michael Blackson into a comedy mix you are guaranteed to get people laughing beyond control.

This night was also extra special as we had a red carpet by the door way, probably for the first time. And as you can trust Nigerians, we all seized an opportunity for our one minute of fame to take pictures that might never be viewed by no one but ourselves.

Called the Night of a thousand and one laughs, the night was complemented by the likes of Naija Boys, the Nigerian comedy singing group that has formed a habit of remixing popular western songs the Nigerian way and a couple of upcoming Nigerian acts.

Keeping to previous reunion culture, some part of the crowd rocked traditional Nigerian attires while most people rocked formal wears such as suits and corporate gear.

One of the highlights of this event was how the singer of the Nigerian national anthem mumbled some of the words of the national anthem. Enough to make the likes of Herbert Macaulay and Nnmadi Azikwe roll in their graves. Kai! That Girl should be denied a NIGERIAN VISA if she has a yankee PASSPORT! Amebor.com will be posting a Book to her address called HOW TO SING THE NIGERIAN NATIONAL ATHEM WITHOUT FLUFFING THE LINES.

The Naija boys performance was nothing special according to the reaction of the crowd. I am sure this was because people have listened to them so many times on youtube.com. Its amazing the number of hits these guys have well over 10 million hits. Kudos to them, nevertheless.

Jedi was so such a funny fella. Cracking jokes that took us back memory lane. He helped us expose those Nigerians in the crowd who with their borrowed YANKEE ACCENT act like they have never stepped on the shores of the motherland. Jedi even had an opportunity to put a NYC FRONTING CHIC on the spot when he dedicated a track on his new album to her. I bet the chic loved the attention.

The most disappointing act of the nite has to be MR MICHAEL BLACKSON. Come on Mr Blackson, go tell them jokes in Sydney or North Korea. We have heard enough of them in America especially in the Naija reunions. I remember that family album joke from the reunion in Miami, 02. Same for gay pitbull from San Francisco. You mudasucka! Cracking the same jokes over and over again and getting paid. We even heard you sent bouncers to check the stage before you performed. Who do you think you are? Jay –Z? Lets be honest, I can now tell your jokes – better than you, MudaSuckah!!!!. They have become so mundane, a bit like listening to a safety announcement on a plane that is about to take off.

Mike Okri was there to add to some Old classic Nigerian flavour to the whole mix.

The night made our Igbo compatriots looked so cool as Seyi Brown repeatedly chanted the IGBO KWENU sound through out. Shout out to the organizers of the NRC night of 1001 laughs. You did a good job with the event (except for bringing the stale Michael Wackson) and the after party was not bad either. Chicago’s DJ DeeMoney and his crew did a great job on the deck!!  Bravo!!!! We loved this one. Fantastic stuff!!!
