Dec 30, Lagos, Nigeria. For some of us, Wednesdays are usually not party/clubing night, but I guess one can make an exception since it’s the eve of the eve of the new year. Plus we are in Lagos, where “anything can happen.”

Venue was the Caliente Club in VI, Lagos Nigeria. The event was tagged Ace: Lagos City’s Elite. As usual, slow start – at 12midnight the red carpet was still scanty, with the camera crew and the “early birds.” By 1am, the parking lot was full with patrons and artistes from the Nigerian music industry most of which are up and coming. Most notable were, the Naija Boyz who put up an impromptu show on the red carpet, D Prince, from the Mo’Hits crew, DolaBillz, New York based Ice Berg Slim, Zara, and Naira

In a nutshell, the party got started – impressive turn-out. I must however point out that the Y chromosomes out numbered the X.

If you were expecting Boston based DJ Obi to spin the tables on the night – you would’ve left disappointed as Obi left disappointed – no table to spin . For whatever reason, Dj Xclusive wasn’t in the building neither. However the in house/ stand-in “DJ” gave a good account of himself, simply by playing MP3s. But hey, my opinion of the MP3 playing “DJ” is subjective, some how, he couldn’t keep the poor guy below from sleeping for a great portion of the party.

Despite the few hicups, the promoters, Incognito, and Vike Ent. did a good job promoting the event, going by the turn-out. The location was a nice, they delivered on some of the celebs they had on the fliers. So kudos to the organizers.  

Now to the “Kodak moments.”
