SPARKLE’S EXPERIENCE
After a 10 hour drive from Michigan, I was excited when I got to New York but I was disappointed when I got to the hotel because the atmosphere was not as exciting as I expected it to be. Perhaps it takes people a while to get into the groove; I just felt this was quite unusual for a Nigerian event.
Through my experience over the weekend activities, I felt the event could have been way better. I wasn’t at the last reunion but based on what people said about the Vegas reunion, if I had to compare this year’s reunion to the last one, I’d give score it a 5/10 and that’s me trying to be nice. I had a great time and there were some moments where I almost yanked my weave out (:-D I’m bald).
I’ll advice the planning committee to pick a better location next time and they should also work on treating their guests well because a couple of them were pissed(One of my fellow AMEBOR guys
). Some of them were almost stranded at the hotel and some were almost starved to death. This is not a good look on an organization that’s been running for 14 years.
I wish the NRC committees did a better job in planning this Reunion, especially it being in honor of our great country’s 50th Independence.
I talked to a couple of people who got stranded at the Airport for almost 8 hours because they were waiting for the NRC shuttle bus. Some of the events were held at different locations and people had to pay their ways to get there after registering for the event; a couple of people felt like the event were a rip-off and I agreed with them to some extent.
On a lighter note, I was enjoying M.I’s performance at the club until this random guy walked up to me, asked me for a dance and I could see the words coming out of his mouth. I could’ve offered him a breath mint but I was a little dis-oriented for a second, forgive me if I said his breath made me dizzy.
Through it all, I will definitely give NRC a second chance because I had a swell time. It was nice connecting with everyone from all over the globe, especially the Amebor team. I wouldn’t trade that for anything.
DIPO’S EXPERIENCE
WoW, so THIS is the Nigerian Reunion I’ve been hearing soo much about??? Hmmmm well on an honest note the events were poorly executed. But all together it was a fun experience. I met all my online friends (SHOUT OUTS TO THE TWITTER FAM @amebor, follow us) and even new ones. I’d have to say I enjoyed myself NRC, even though all your events were nowhere near the hotel. The atmosphere in my opinion was LIVE, i even saw how THIRSTY Naija guys are. 8 dudes chasing one girl, guys telling girls “I have money, date me”, even one guy asked me to release one of my friends for him…WTF… I had a blast at the picnic, even though I almost starved. The Africalabash Ent. guys really did their thing with their impromptu performance (We have it on video, chk it out), also the parties….hmmmm don’t get me started
.
My favorite event at the reunion was the Lobby….YEA THE LOBBY, the area where i met everyone and spent most of my time…lol. The low point was, In fact, i didn’t have low point, I enjoyed myself. The annoying part was people saying it sucked. I believe you make the best of what you are given. You didn’t have fun because you’re a boring person, LOL. But hopefully next year we don’t have to trek like the Israelites did. And it’s not official yet but I’m hearing North Carolina, Florida(Orlando, Miami) and where ever they choose, AMEBOR and myself will be there……
Chk out Dipo and Sparkle’s pics with old and new friends…..
