I guess a concert wont be complete without screaming/swooning fans, and scheming groupies.

At this P Square concert in Queens, New York, July 24, we saw some fans (females of course) throw their underwear at the Okoye brothers, aka P Square.

And yes we caught on camera, a desperate babe/fan/groupie climbing the stage like a prisoner escaping from jail!!!

"Lucky" guy got a hand full of, you know what, while helping her climb...

We’ll like for her to come and share with us how the night ended after she got on that stage – and back stage

Rugged Man clears the air with 9ice | AMEBOR

Last week, we reported a story about a rumour that has been circulating the Nigerian community for quite a while. In a bid to clear the air, we reported how Toni Payne called out 9ice in her Facebook status update, asking him to come clean about the song “Once bitten twice shy”.

The article also reported how rugged man, the man who was thought to have slept with Toni Payne getting involved in a back and forth argument with a fellow Nigerian on the status thread.

In an attempt to clear his name, Rugged man called up 9ice to ask him about the whole issue and 9ice reluctantly cleared the air in a recorded conversation. It was however interesting to hear that 9ice was not referring to Rugged man or Toni Payne in the song “Once bitten twice shy”. This revelation is contrary to the rife rumours that have been making its rounds across the Nigerian community of late.

One hopes this will help stop rumours about Rugged man betraying his friend, because in a community where the truth is scarce, I believe a rumour becomes a hot commodity!

All hail the King!! Will you? | Uganda’s teenage King

It’s certainly not a new thing to have young kings, and perhaps queens. Nevertheless, I still find this picture rather interesting – therefore, it’s my picture of the week.

King Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV, during his 18th birthday in the royal palace at Fort Portal, Uganda, Saturday, April 17, 2010 as he assumes the full duties of King of the Tooros.

I’m not sure I will prostrate for an eighteen year old, regardless of his title. But I do understand that its their culture in that part of Uganda, the Tooro Kingdom. Now, I’m curious if the Ugandan dictator, who has held on to power since 1986, Yoweri Museveni, prostrated too – to a teenager perhaps the age of his grand child.

For some reason I’ve been looking “forward” to the day AfroCandy, will come out with her Album, and of course the music video to promote it.

We first saw her perform at an Olu-Maintain concert in Newark NJ, last year, and one of our correspondents just had to do an interview with her. Some think she was drunk in the video. (see interview below)

Since the realease of her “Ikebe na moni” (Booty is Money) video, about two weeks ago, which was launched under DarkFish Ent. Suffice to say there has been a lot of reactions. Here’s a sample from youtube:

So last Friday, Nov 27, it all went down in Staten Island at the Ginger your Swagga party for the one and only Mr. Money, who celebrated his birthday with style. This party took place at Epic Lounge, one of Staten Islands largest night spots.

The birthday boy got the hint and arrived fresh to death. DJ Afoo and DJ Sotan held it down on da 1’s & 2’s spinning the best R&B, Hip-Hop, Afro-Hip-Hop, Hip-life, reggae [dancehall]. At first the party appeared to be dead with only 3 girls dancing, but that soon changed once the champagne started popping and spilling. Soon after, the dance floor got busy – people getting their grind on. Not a bad outcome to a night that started off dead. Once again, happy birthday to the birthday boy!!

I must however add the following:

1.) I didn’t get much love from the ladies, at least from the 2 cute ones I saw all night, and I’ll give them 6 on a scale of 10.

2.) I liked the venue of the event , even though I had no fun , but lots of laugh , see why below

6 Hours at FedEx Kinkos [Tales from our Launch event]

Remember Murphy’s law? “Anything that can go wrong will go wrong.”

The following are lessons on preparation, for any event (in life). I think planning is an Art, or perhaps the execution of a plan is the Art (or science if you are in the sciences).

Rewind back to mid July when we decided to have a launching event – which we had this past Saturday, Oct 17.

It was a Sunday afternoon, I recall, we had a meeting with Soló Nnanna of Royalty Lifestyle. Having being impressed with the work his team did with Agama Label weeks earlier, it was a no brainer we bought into some of the terrific ideas he came up with.

So after that meeting, planning went into full gear; securing a location, date, DJ, fliers, and other necessary things. As you will expect, every one had their roles to play.

Now fast forward to 2.3 weeks to event day – no fliers, no back drop banner yet. Apparently someone in the crew hasn’t been minding our “bizness” properly. Under pressure, this team member had to get the fliers ready by Saturday Oct 3, for the Nigeria Day parade in NYC. And as you know things go wrong when you are in haste. Hence we ended up with this $#!+

Now, there’s a million things wrong with this flier. But I’ll mention 3. #1 The Amebor Logo is conspicuously missing. #2 “We Love to Mind your Bizness,” is missing. #3 The thing looks cheap, really!

For me the only thing good about the flier, front and back are the red lips

As if the F**k Up on the flier wasn’t enough – we still had 2 weeks to the event. You would think there was still ample time to get a decent backdrop banner for the much cliched “Red Carpet.”

Again our much respected team member waited till 21 hours before the event to check on the wise guy (a really small business owner) who was supposed to print the banner. Again the Murphy’s Law applied itself, the wise guy (printer) was AWOL, or couldn’t be reached, apparently didn’t pay his phone bills.

Now, the pertinent question was: must we have a banner? Yes!! How? 6 hours at FedEx Kinkos

And what did that get us? See below…After spending the whole of $250, and burning gas up and down, North and South of New Jersey’s Route 1, our in-house wise guy put together a poorly designed graphics on a tabloid size (11 x 17 inches) cardboard. But at the end of it all, we had a successful event and that all that matters. The feedback we’ve received so far about the event have all been positive.

Special Thanks to all that made this event a success; the Boston contingent, for made the trip down; Mr.Solitude, Soso Selective, and all the good people that made the short, but long trip from Maryland and DC; DJ Zimo and DJ Lueve form Philly; Handsome Hustlers, and Fola Photos for the pictures; Jade Image, and other videographers for the video coverage. Give Sony a Spanking (Explicit Vocab)

What is it about these people and Nigeria? It’s like everyone just likes to take a dig at this nation with every given opportunity. Oprah, several American broadcasters, Now SONY???

It was a rude shock when we got the tip that SONY just placed an advert about its new slim PS on the internet. Apparently in a bid to boost its sales, sony placed a funny line (Not so funny after all) in its advert, saying:

“YOU CAN’T BELIEVE EVERYTHING YOU READ ON THE INTERNET, OTHERWISE YOU WOULD BE A NIGERIAN MILLIONAIRE BY NOW”!!!

Is that supposed to be funny? Can some tell these “basterds” to stick their finger up where it belongs? Up their ass.

So the advert features a fat fuck looking idiot called Bernie Bunclan (Dude looks like he drank one milkshake too many) and Kevin Butler (This one looks a divorcée who plays with his dick all night).

Bernie asks Kevin over a video link to confirm or deny whether the new PS 3 is $299 dollars. Kevin says you can’t believe everything you read on the internet otherwise you would be a Nigerian millionaire by now. What a crap line!

So SONY is suppose to be using Nigeria as an example about what to believe or not? Come on then!!! This company has more dirt than a toilet that has not been flushed for days. LMAO!!!

Well, here are some interesting facts about “almighty angelic halo over my head” SONY.

So SONY is not so clean after all, Perhaps SONY wants to clean its own toilet before it starts using Nigeria as some sort of standard. Without a doubt, Nigeria may have a collective few that do scams on the internet but scams are all over the world. Pointing out and stigmatising a country is not something ethical. Not only is it irresponsible, it shows how far some corporate bodies can go in the name of profit. Amebor.com considers this disrespectful and unacceptable.

We therefore urge SONY (Howard Stringer hope you are reading this) to pull out this advert. Or else, YAWA GO GAS (Don’t take on what is bigger than you)!

So we have seen quite a few interesting facebook status updates but nothing can be compared to the one we saw a few days ago.

You see, Tracy is engaged, and her and her fiancé have mutually agreed to stay celibate until their wedding night. Problem is, homegal cannot stick to the agreement then she decides to sleep with this dude named Michael (a random facebook friend).

After the sexual healing session, Tracy felt relieved and wanted to express her gratitude to Michael by sending him a facebook message but ended on posting it on her wall. Now, however that happened???? We do not know or care….lol. It is, however one of the funniest things we have seen in a while.

Beware of the Red Lobster(chic) [True Story]

So it’s a Sunday evening and I have this “date” with a Nigerian Chic, 22, we have been talking (phone convos) for a while and I thought that it will be nice to get to know her more .

Perhaps the alarm bell should have sounded when she choose the venue for the date. Number one on her list was RED LOBSTER! Guys, Red is a danger sign. Serious danger, I tell ya!

She seemed to be laying down all the rules and I just played along like a puppet on a string. Where is the man intuition when you need it? Virtually Non existent! Then she came up with rule No2.

“… am not going to be able wait for more than two hours, you see I have to be home by 8:15”

I didn’t ask her why, as I really didn’t have to know. But she told me anyway – She said they are having a family prayer meeting, which commences by 8:30, and she’ll like to help her mom prepare.

Well, she could be excused I thought. You know, I like me a homely, spiritual girl who is fervent in the LORD! Praise God somebody! I found me a Church loving Chic I thought!

The date went smoothly and home girl definitely ordered that Lobster, the big Red One. She be cracking the bones like her life depended on it (oh wait, do lobsters have bones?).

At 8.05pm, I let her know that it was time to leave. Perhaps I should have taken a clue from this fact. How come I am the one reminding her that time was up? Hmnnn perhaps she was enjoying my company?

Important fact here, she lives in the SOUTHERN part of town and I live in the NORTH. We hugged and bade each other bye. I jump into my car and drive off.

Thirty five minutes into the journey, at a gas station off the highway. A car pulls up – Wait!!! Isn’t that my date? No, it can’t be! How come? Isn’t she is supposed to be heading home, SOUTH for a Family Prayer Meeting not NORTH?

Despite my suspicion, I will be honest if I say I wasn’t really sure if it was her. It was dark and plus I was on the phone – an important business call. So, I convinced myself it wasn’t her.

As a result of the business call, I had to stop by at a near by restaurant to talk in person with my associates, as they were already there, having dinner. And yes, you guessed right, it was another Lobster spot (Red Lobster). This one is at least 60 minutes away (My part of town to be precise) from the one I had my “date” over an hour earlier.

My associate were sitted not far from the entrance, hence I didn’t have a hard time finding them, in fact they saw me the moment I stepped in. So, mid way into my impromptu meeting with my associates. I had a JAW DROPPING experience.

Walking through the door was the Red Lobster Chic, my date who lives 60 mins away, who was suppose to be in a Family Prayer meeting – a prayer meeting that “commenced” over an hour ago. More interestingly, she wasn’t alone – but no she wasn’t with the rest of the family to hold the Prayer Meeting here at Red Lobster, she was with a male companion. They held hands and walked in like live-in lovers.

Whoa! Red Lobster? May be she came to order Red Lobster take away for the Family and Prayer meeting group?

I am not sure words can not describe how I felt. How an arranged Prayer Meeting with Mum and church members turned into a “date” or perhaps rendezvous in another Red Lobster restaurant is something beyond my imagination. Chei, This GIRL can lie, oh! BUT SUCH AN UNNECESSARY lie.

Now what did I do? I held my cool, concluded the meeting and went home. I must, however, point out that while I was in the meeting, she sent me a text thanking me about how I “made” her evening and that she “had a nice time.”

Monday morning she calls thanking me again and chit chatting. But then I asked her sarcastically, “how was the meeting?” Her response: It was great, I actually got home before 8:15 and was able to help mom with some final minute preparations.”

I ended the conversation not long after that response. But like any good story, that wasn’t going to be the end of it.

A few days later, I mentioned to her that I saw her at the gas station, but before I could add the Red Lobster chapter, – she chimed in “I had to rush up to Newark to pick-up some Ankara (clothing fabric) for my mom before the Prayer meeting.”

What happened after the Ankara Story? I’ll have to save that for later in the week, as this post is getting too long.

Now,

For the life of me I still can figure out what she was on about, did she do that for her ego? “I bagged two guys for Red Lobster on the same night“. And more importantly, why lie? One more thing, Red Lobster chic is like the average gal who “Plays the Victim Role“. By “playing the victim,” I mean she sees men as the bad heads. In the weeks preceding our ill fated “date” she whined about how he ex boy friends are/were all liars.

So here I am, a $100 in the Red, A Lobster that I didn’t really feast on and a Lobster plate she managed to leave empty, I will take my losses like a man. Yeah, I will take it like a man while I feel sorry for her next victim!!!
