Sometimes you catch yourself waiting on something, someone, or even that special moment to hear some news. I wait for God’s time. Well except for when I have to take a dump . But we are always waiting. So whatever you are waiting for, wait for GOD’S time…..I heard his timing is ON-POINT….

Have you ever signed on to YouTube, or Naija Pals/Online Nigeria, or  whatever movie site you use to watch Naija movies, to watch a movie that in the end you ended up asking yourself “what in the world was I thinking, wasting my time to watch this movie?” And as if that wasn’t enough, you look through the comments, and you not only see comments like “AWESOME MOVIE”, or “MUST WATCH!!”, but you also find that ONE person, or those two people that are being attacked for leaving a comment similar to what you would have left? A perfect example would be “THIS MOVIE SUCKS!!”, or “COMPLETE WASTE OF TIME”. Sounds familiar? Great, because this is exactly why I’m writing this post. (This post is a bit long, so please bear with me). In fact, I formally dedicate this post to anyone/everyone who like me, expect MORE from Nollywood. Now don’t get me wrong, Nollywood has come a long way. We not only got rid of the excess noise in the background, but the videos have become clearer. We also appeal to a wider audience, as our movies are now viewed by not only Nigerians, but also by people in the Caribbean, Haiti, etc. The fact still remains however that there is more work to do. Now, before you movie lovers out there attack me, let me list a few:

1. UNTALENTED ACTORS: This is a very SERIOUS issue that MUST be addressed in Nollywood. Why must we have to suffer and cringe every time a certain actor (not naming any names, but I’m sure many of you have an idea), or a certain actress appears in a movie? Why cast actors/actresses who cannot act, in a movie, and deny the ones who CAN, an opportunity to show their talent? Many times, I even find myself asking “Did this actress have sex with the director? Because I don’t understand how she was even casted in the first place”. THIS MUST STOP!

2. UNREASONABLE STORY LINES: I am sure the REAL critics out there will agree with me that this is another serious issue that must be discussed. Many times, the movie begins with a good story line, and then towards the middle just falls apart. Other times, the story line just sucks from the very start. We are a talented nation, so the fact that we are not promoting great/talented film writers truly baffles me.

3. NO RESEARCH: Along with this idea of unreasonable story lines comes the fact that no research is being done. Let me explain: some Nollywood movies deal with serious social issues such as rape, illness, molestation, etc. but watching the movie, one can easily tell that there wasn’t a lot of research put into the movie. For example, we often see doctors give false information about a certain disease, or a rape victim responding in false manner. Again, this MUST STOP!

And last but not least, the BIGGEST issue comes down to THE PEOPLE. Yes! The viewers/ comment leavers. (Well some). I am in no way saying that we can’t each have our opinions, but when we begin to lie to ourselves, and begin to attack others who are actually telling the TRUTH, all in the name of “Supporting our fellow Nigerians” then we are only hindering our own progress. Things must change for the better, and it starts with us.

Speaking to the press, Durella who recently moved into a new apartment in Lekki said:

“It was part of my deal with them. But I will start a new brand. We are putting things in place to make sure new footwear start coming from the stable of the king of Zanga.” Durella said

Am not sure so many people knew about the trainers but it would come as a bit of a surprise to learn that the trainers were selling forN25,000. For those of us residing in the UK and US that would be around £100/$160. Considering the fact that some well known brands such as Nike, rebook, And1 and Supra cost less than 2gbaski trainers.  I will expect some consumers, who are interested in buying the product, to raise their eyebrows.

So would you have paid that kind of amount for this kind of trainers?

Surfing the web, doing what I do best, I came across a video that brought an interesting question to my mind. Tha Suspect, a Nigerian based rapper released a remix to his song “I no Send U” featuring six of Naija’s famous female Emcees: Eva, Mo’Chedda, Blaise, Zee, Sasha, and Muna aka. Munachi. We listen to debates, and we often hear people questioning who the best male rapper in Nigeria is. Very often, we find that the targets of this question are the Choc boys (MI, Ice Prince, Jesse Jags), among many others. However when Tha Suspects video was released, there were lots of discussions, and controversy on who the most talented female rapper in Nigeria is. It has come to my attention that there is a LOT of noise about Mo’Chedda right now, but we’re using this opportunity to ask our readers: who is the baddest (we really mean BEST) female rapper in Nigeria? Below is Tha Suspect’s “I No Send U”, video, along with a poll to get your opinion on this matter. So leave your votes, and if there is someone you feel belongs on the list, but isn’t, feel free to leave your thoughts below.

The very eclectic well known musician Kelis showed up to the First Annual Data Awards in Hollywood last night looking like a human mare.  Although I  command her creativity and pushing style barriers I have to say this look is plain outrageous.  I personally blame Alexander Mcqueen for those 50 inch footies, I also dont understand the bull ring with connecting earrings, and the braided horse tail?  So fashionistas talk to me, do we love. HauteNess or HauteMess?

Due to the back-to-back partying over the long weekend, our correspondents to this event still have serious hang-overs. So we don’t have a review on this event yet, please bear with us. Hence, let us know what you think, leave comments below and complete our polls.

Saturday night at club BLVD in New York city was truly the perfect way to end the summer.

Truth be told, the last party Incognito had in New York was good, but was at small venue compared. The main floor at BLVD on the other hand, was huge, and I  personally didn’t expect to see Incognito pack up this venue which had a capacity of about 600 people. At the end of  the day, not only did they pack it up, but they did it with beautiful people. As you will see in the pics, the mildly diverse crowd were having a ball, yet they still maintained style.

Congrats to the special performers of the night (EMX, TNT & YOODE FRANCES), DJ Obi of AJ entertainment, and the super crew (Onome Oddiri, Oye Obajimi and Damilola Seriki) of  Incognito for a very special night of fun and entertainment

We don’t create controversy; we report it and we won’t say anything that was not said. So when we caught a little snippet of what Iceberg slim said on tape at naija reunion freestyle in Las Vegas, we thought, why not cut it and show it to our fans? 

Iceberg slim was caught on tape saying and we quote:

“Am I, better than M.I?, matter of fact, better ask M.I.

Careful study of the tape actually revealed that the line Iceberg slim put out in the “supposedly controversial free style session” was not freestyle, but actually a song he released recently. Talk about a premeditated attack on M.I a.k.a Mr. incredible. 

We feel something cooking like an overdue soup from IYA FATIMA’s Kitchen.
