King Kuron

King Kuron is a very gifted musician and a good songwriter. He is very versatile and has a unique style of reggae, with a blend of afro beat and hip-hop he calls “afro reggae pop”. His music journey started a while back in Nigeria where he formed a label Soundyard Records and packaged some songs which were released and sold on the streets of Lagos .The cd was called “Oloyede”. King Kuron had many videos made and shown on tv stations as well as having his songs played on various radio stations. Living in London, a city with vast cultures and styles of music, has even expanded his musical idealogy and is currently in an afro band working on various projects. We never expect anything less than good quality material from Eldee the don and he has delivered once again by producing a stunning video of a song off his mixtape Is it ur money vol mix tape called “Ota Mi” featuring LKT

The song features a couple of famous Nigerian dancers, notably in this video is top Nigerian female dancer Kafayat. According to sources, the video was directed by Eldee the don. This is another testament to the multiple skills possessed by the artiste. By all standards this song is very addictive and so is the video. Enjoy another classic from the KING!

MATERIAL ELEGBEJE-ADO DROPS MUCH AWAITED MIXTAPE

When translated to English, his name means a man with a lot of charms or talent. And in all sincerity, after listening to his mix tape one can not help but agree. Material Elegbeje ado lived up to expectations and release his much awaited mix-tape titled “DA UNDISPUTED” on August 15th 2010. Material has already collaborated with musical heavy weights such as Eldee the don and OJB Zereel.

Material Elegbeje-ado (Olusola Ogunrinde) hails from Osun state but was born in Ibadan, Oyo state in Nigeria. As a young lad he had an undying love for music with his influences comprising of a mixture of both western and indigenous songs. As a young kid he was noted to be a brilliant scholar and this caused a personality clash because his musical gifts were quite evident.

In his words: “A gift could be a curse, I could never fathom why I had sleepless nights because I was having strings of lyrics in my head instead of remembering what I read in my chemistry textbook’.

After High school, Material gained admission into University of Lagos Akoka, to study computer science and in his first year, performed at a show in Amina hall. He received a standing ovation. Subsequently, he teamed up with another prolific rapper called Will-dada to form a group known as 2tim3, a name which is more of an acronym of 2nd Timothy chapter 3.

After graduating, he stepped into the studio and recorded the debut single ‘Third floor’ featuring Will-dada and Qpidfyne, produced by OJB jezereel and it was a smasher. He recorded a few more tracks and abandoned music to pursue secular employment.

“Yes, I got a job, working 9am to 5pm with a tie around my neck and sitting behind a desk, but deep inside I knew I was born was to do something else, I could not cope”. During those years he re-branded himself and subsequently traveled to United kingdom in search of greener pastures.

In the U.K, his music career blossomed. He worked with various producers, the likes of Da’General ‘Shot callers Inc’ and Olly Jay ‘Rhymez Record’. His official single ‘Don’t try me’ was recorded in 2009 and he shot a music video thereafter, ever since his name has spread like wildfire even without any form of formal promotion.

THE MIXTAPE DA UNDISPUTED is the first official material to be released by Material. The first track Oro Itisi is an introductory track that laments the state of the musical industry in Nigeria. In the track Material bursts a three minute free style in Yoruba and once again proves that he can use his local lingo to portray his message in a versatile manner. Other tracks such as My Parol, Owo epo, Grab am, I don change ft. Qpidfyne and Paragado ft. Fadastarky. Wa de be is a track that depicts a picture of his humble roots.

The MecMen

I first met the MecMen at the Nigerian Reunion in Long Island, NY. I was handed a CD and of course I listened to it. A track that stood out to me was Omo Naija. I love my country(NAIJA ALL DAY), so I immediately loved it. “OMO NAIJA WE NO DEY BOW DOWN”. They had 3 other tracks on their demo mix that was given out. “Shayo Everywhere” is more of that club banger feel. The kind of song where you know you wanna have a drink in your right hand, and a girl(or guy for the ladies) dancing freely on you. “OMO ELE” is a nice track, I like the beat, the lyrics had me at a bit of a chuckle. Some of the lyrics are on point with how some Nigerian females act, with all their shakara But gotta love our African women though. So far I feel they have the potential, they are almost there, but not quiet. But don’t count them out, I feel a big hit coming out from this group very soon. P-Square Rocks NY | Photos

Peter and Paul Rockin' with the Crowd

The P-Square concert hosted by Big moose Ent, Ariya Ent and Underdarock took place at Club Amazura in Queens, NY. I must say P-square is by far the best Nigerian performers I am yet to see here in NYC. Not only did they give a good show, but they kept the audience attention from the beginning to the end with their thrilling dance moves, awesome stage presence and their crowd interaction was up to par. Oh and let’s not forget their infamous dance move that had the ladies screaming and going crazy for ” Da Thrust”! Overall it was great show, it was worth every penny. Kudos to the promoters of this show. Its good to know that they can bring us great show after great show. Their credibility rate just shot up the chart even higher! They have me wondering who’s coming next? And you know AMEBOR.COM will be minding their bizness
