The Don Jazzy’s Enigma winner and producer of the BET naija rap cypher is on to something new!

Of recent, the name IBK has been on the lips of many–from radio jingles, exclusive interviews to special features. The renowned producer, singer/songwriter and vocal instructor is well known for his vocal arrangements and gritty production skills.

His music is hard to label style wise, it is a mix of genres : Gospel, jazz, neo-soul, hiphop and even RnB. There are many WORDS we can classify IBK with – different, unusual, ‘out-er-the-box’ – but he’d rather call himself spaceshipboi; believing he has been sent to add value to the world he currently finds himself in (earth).

Earlier in the month, he shot the video for “I HAVE A DREAM,” a track off of his upcoming “I COME IN PEACE” album. IBK tells the story of the record I HAVE A DREAM via this visual movie type presentation directed by a great video director BRIAN NU KID. The MARTIANSHIP team has decided to whet the appetite of the public with this sneak peek into what is currently been brewed in the lab. HEROINE CONCEALED IN HAIR....SMH

HAIR, they say is the beauty of a woman; and any woman who is blessed with rich hair texture is not only a pride to herself, but flaunts it jealously anywhere. However, some like Ms Vivian Chioma Metu, a 39-year-old self -acclaimed economics graduate of Lagos State University and single mother, do not necessarily see anything spectacular about this work of nature and so, threw decency to the dogs and went ahead to criminalize it.

Recently, a bewildered female operative of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Ikeja, Lagos discovered a large chunk of powdery substances which tested for heroine tucked in -between her hair. The hard stuff which weighed 1.500kg was masterly concealed on the scalp of her head!

Ms. Vivian who was on her way to Guangzhou, China has successfully beaten all the security apparatus at the airport but luck ran against her after a female narcotic operative who admired her richly fixed hair approached her to know where she made it only to discover the strange substance.

On that fateful day, she had arrived the airport full of life; having checked in her luggages earlier. At the departure lounge and on an Ethiopian airline queue, Vivian radiated an uncommon glee and confidence, occasionally flogging around her neck and pampering her richly made hair with her long manicured nail.

What preoccupied her mind at the time was the $5,000.00 US that would grease her palm at the successful delivery of the substance unmindful of the fact that the worst moment of life was soon to take place. At the end of the rigorous search of her luggage, she was given the green light to proceed for boarding and happily she cat-walked, passed some fierce- looking security operatives, smiled lustfully at them, waved bye to her friends who saw her to the airport and moved on.

Moments after, a female narcotic operative approached her and having exchanged pleasantries, casually requested to know the saloon on which the eye-catching hair was made. As the operative got closer, Vivian became uncomfortable and simply said she made it in one of the salons on Allen Avenue, Ikeja.

The operative admirably went further to feel the hair and in the process felt a hard portion. She stopped and became curious. Asked what was the bump on her scalp, Vivian simply muttered that she had burns on her scalp while fixing the hair and therefore, decided to cover the portion with a black cellophane. Dissatisfied, the operative excused her to a corner and of course, the bubble got burst. The bumps had in them, hard stuff which later tested positive for heroine. She was promptly arrested and she broke down in tears.

At the airport office of the anti-drug agency, Vivian in an emotion- laden voice confessed that she could not have taken to such criminality but for her ill-health adding that she needed some money to undergo a cancer operation. She claimed that she had spent so much on her health and that she was tired of borrowing. I know that my friends and family members will be disappointed at this but life has to go on. I need money to pay for a cancer operation abroad. He who is down need fear no fall.

I am an international business woman but I have been suffering from this terminal disease for a long time now and doctors said it could be operated on overseas. I need money for this and since that huge sums can not be sourced easily, I have to use what I have to get what I want. The hair belongs to me, but my health is much more important. The man I met for assistance told me to deliver this to somebody in China and make good money for myself; and that was it. I have spent so much money that I no longer have any saving but as it is now, I think I have to resign to fate,. she lamented.

The Airport Commander of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Alhaji Hamza Umar who described the discovery as shocking however, said this was not the first time women were concealing hard drugs in their hair.

He said this attest to the fact that drug traffickers are running out of tricks following the agenc’s efforts at fighting trackers and barons alike to a stand still. This is not the first time drug traffickers and their sponsors are concealing drugs in their hair. They are definitely running out of tricks due to our counter efforts. This is good for the country because it clearly shows that no drug trafficker will go unpunished”

We updated you guys yesterday about the latest news in the Nigerian entertainment industry, that being Don Jazzy and his new record label - MAVINincluding artists like Tiwa Savage, Dr. Sid, D’Prince and Wande Coal.

The album, Solar Plexus just dropped on youtube a couple of minutes ago and it has caused quite an uproar all over the internet. A lot of fans seem to have mixed feelings about this album because they felt like Don Jazzy could’ve taken his time instead of rushing the album. Others think the album is one of the best yet.

GOVERNOR FASHOLA SACKS 788 LAGOS DOCTORS AND EMPLOYS ANOTHER 373

The Lagos state government, on Monday dismissed 788 medicals doctors in the Lagos State public service over their persistence with an ‘illegal strike’, and refusal to answer a query over a warning strike. The state government also announced the employment of 373 doctors for immediate deployment in the public hospitals while recruitment continues.

The doctors dismissal was authorised by the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) Board and the State’s Health Service Commission (HSC), following an illegal strike embarked upon by the doctors since April 16, 2012.

A statement signed by the Head of Service of Lagos State, Adesegun Ogunlewe, stated that the two bodies attributed the sack to the refusal of the striking doctors to answer to queries issued to them to explain why they were absent from work without leave and without the due observance of the rules and regulations guiding strikes and industrial actions in the State’s Public Service. The sacked doctors include 316 doctors who were working with the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, while the remaining 472 were from other hospitals in the State.

With the dismissal of the doctors, the state government has immediately employed 373 new doctors to assume duties across the state owned medical institutions across the state.

The state government also stated that it has placed advertisement in some national dailies seeking applications from suitably qualified Medical Doctors and Consultants/Specialists desirous of working with the government.

NO NONSENSE APPROACH: Fashola's sacking of 773 doctors will not go unchallenged

Explaining what led to the dismissal sack of the doctors, Mr Ogunlewe, stated that “resulting from the contemptible act of the Medical Doctors LASUTH Board and HSC, the two bodies that appointed them in line with subsisting statutes, served those who were ‘Absent without Leave’ (AWOL) with queries”, adding that while a handful of them responded, majority of the doctors shunned the query.

The statement maintained that the strike came as a rude shock to the state government noting that “the leadership of the Medical Guild still met during the week preceding the illegal strike with top Government officials in charge of Health and establishment sectors”.

On what made the strike illegal, the statement noted, among other things, that the doctors only gave the State Government 24 hours’ notice “as against the time-tested and statute-bound processes and procedures for declaration of industrial disputes”.

The video for the internet-released single “TENO” was shot in April, 2012 over two days in Maryland, USA. The visual direction was a collaborative effort by the amazing pair Champion Studios and P.K Design to bring Margaret-Mary Joseph aka Zara Gretti’s vision to life. The super duper glam squad Nkechi Nchaos, Cheryl Ukegbu (Amaka Consultants), Beatrice Travers-Brown, and Immah Bundu worked seamlessly to bring the styling vision to life with contributions from other young talented Africans in the DMV area – Akeyno accessories, Aral Amore, Lucci Zera and Shako’Ju clothing. ToluMide, Ogee’s Place, Duncan Daniels, Nollege Wisdumb, Benny Bekro and more friends showed to support and eat plenty rice and meat… hehehe!

“Why we Bombed ThisDay offices” – BOKOHARAM

THE Boko Haram sect on Thursday claimed responsibility for the attacks on ThisDay offices in Abuja and Kaduna. The sect, while claiming responsibility for Thursday’s attacks, said more bombings were coming the way of the media. The Jama’atu Ahlis Sunna Lidda’awati Wal-Jihad, popularly known as Boko Haram told an online medium Premium Times that it attacked

ThisDay to send a strong message to the media that it would no longer condone reports misrepresenting it in the press, or blaming it for acts it knew nothing about.

Abul Qaqa, spokesperson for the sect, told Premium Times in an exclusive interview that his organisation was fed up with the deliberate misinformation being peddled about it in the Nigerian and foreign media.

“We have repeatedly cautioned reporters and media houses to be professional and objective in their reports. This is a war between us and the government of Nigeria; unfortunately, the media have not been objective and fair in their report of the ongoing war, they chose to take side,” Qaqa said.

He identified three instances where he claimed his group was deliberately misrepresented by the media. The first, according to him, was the rumour of his capture by the Nigerian intelligence agencies.

“Some reporters are aware that I am Abul Qaqa, they know my voice through our long interactions and they also know the role of Abu Darda who heads the enlightenment committee and sometimes facilitates interviews; yet they (media) go by the unsubstantiated view of government that Abul Qaqa is in custody and I am the new spokesman or number two,” he said.

The second misrepresentation, according to Qaqa, was the reporting on the kidnappings of foreigners in the northern part of Nigeria.

The third example, Qaqa said, was the mis-translation of the video the group posted recently.

“Another example is the recent video posted on YouTube by our Imam. I challenge every Nigerian to watch that video again. There is no place our imam either said he will crush President Jonathan or issued an ultimatum to the government in Nigeria; but nearly all papers carried very wrong and mischievous headlines,” he said.

When asked why THISDAY appeared specifically chosen for the attack, Qaqa said THISDAY’s “sins” were more grievous.

“The sins of THISDAY are more,” he said, adding that “they once insulted Prophet Mohammed in 2001 and we have not forgotten. They recently said our Imam executed me which is false. Here I am speaking to you, I am alive and healthy.”

‘We’ll attack the media again’

The group’s spokesman further warned of more attacks on the media.

“We have just started this new campaign against the media and we will not stop here, we will hit the media hard since they have refused to listen to our plea for them to be fair in their reportage.

“In the coming days we will give details and instances where the media have not been fair to us and why we are going to attack them as well.

“The media in Nigeria are not a problem to us if they will do their job professionally without taking sides,” Qaqa said.
