It’s nice to know that Mo’Cheddah was able to balance her school work with her music career. She recently graduated from the University of Lagos with a degree in Creative Arts. The graduation party took place at Hush Lounge in Lagos. Celebrities like Banky W, Davido, Goldie, Tiwa Savage and several others were also present at the event. Check out some of the pictures!

There are a few looks I think would be nice to try out this season if you find yourself doing the same ol’ kinda makeup.

• Red Lips: Like I always say, everybody can wear red lips…you just need to find the right shade that will suit your skin tone. Personally, I love matte red lipstick. Be sure to use a matching lip-liner to prevent bleeding outside the lips.

• Metallic smoky eyes: Definitely gives off a sexy look for parties or events.

• Dramatic Eye lashes: For those of you who are blessed with luscious lashes, stick to using a mascara that will add volume to them. For the rest of us who do not, wearing fake lashes is not a bad idea at all!

• Purple/Violet Eyeliner: Could be used during the day or at night.

• Dark Blue and gold eye-shadow: This is certainly a party look to try out.

• Dark Green eye-shadow:

• Colorful Lips: This is very “in” right now so don’t dull, my dear!

I couldn’t help but write about this issue that has been bothering me for a couple of weeks. To say I’m disappointed would be the biggest understatement of the century! As we all know, this event created a lot of buzz a couple of weeks ago, but it turned out to be an absolute fail!

According to a source, there were only 50 seats available, at least 60% of the crowd had to stand while watching show. As if that wasn’t enough, in the event’s brochure, the pageant was meant to field four judges – Joseph Benjamin, Nadaya Letova, Kelechi Amadi-Obi and Ms Ladi Ene-Garba. But neither actor/show host Benjamin nor photographer Amadi-Obi showed up. Shame on Silverbird!

I know a lot of people were just as surprised as I was when I saw the contestants. All I could think was – What the hell? Where are the good looking guys? are these guys really Nigerians? These men are supposed to be “the most desirable men in Nigeria” but the things I saw in the pictures were nothing to write home about. Half of the contestants were so not attractive! I thought Mr. Nigeria was supposed to be flawless but they all looked dirty, they had stretch marks, some of them looked like they were on expired steroids, some of them need to shave, some even had muscles on bones … I could go on and on but WOW!

Silverbird couldn’t even get a professional to take their pictures.  One of the contestants even started a fight in the dressing room because he didn’t win. Better luck next time! Nigeria really needs to up their game next year! At least photo shop the picture and make the guys look good… Here’s a better idea though – GET BETTER LOOKING GUYS NEXT YEAR!!! This is ridiculous. Did you guys see the winner? He will be representing Nigeria in other contests.. This is why we never make it far. SMH!

COLOR BLOCKING GOES WRONG ┌(˘.˘)ʃ

If you are currently committing these makeup crimes, please desist from them! Your “friends” don’t like you if they let you step outside like that. Think of me as that friend who will ALWAYS tell you if your makeup’s a mess.

1. You are not blending well enough: I don’t know how many times I have to emphasize the need to blend. You have to make sure there are no harsh lines.
2. You simply put on TOO much makeup: Makeup is meant to enhance your natural beauty. A word is enough for the wise.
3. Your under eye concealer is too light or too dark for your skin tone: The concealer is supposed to cover dark circles or blemishes so try using a shade or two lighter than your skin tone.
4. You got too much blush on: I’m sure your intent wasn’t to look like a clown in photos. Use a light hand while applying the blush. It is supposed to highlight your cheekbones and also bring some color to your face. A little goes a long way.
5. Your foundation looks cakey: You either put too much on or the makeup brand is crappy. Either way, please stop it. Learn to start off small, then add as needed.
6. You are wearing bad false lashes: If your false lashes seem to come across as spider legs, you may want to rethink wearing those lashes.
7. You are wearing a really dark liner with a light lip color: Stop with the 80’s look! You either want to use the dark liner to fill in your lips & then apply clear lip gloss OR use  the same shade of lip liner for your lip color.
8. You shaved off your eyebrows, and then drew them in: No, no, no, no! I mean, what were you thinking?? Apart from the fact that you’d be scaring people off when you got no makeup on, you will have this “old and tired” look. Don’t do it!
9. You are wearing a really bright eye shadow: Leave that look to the fashion models on photo shoots and runways, please.
10. You are wearing a lipstick that’s frosty-looking:  Sigh. Just find another color that will bring warmth to your overall look.

Hmmmm!! wonders shall never end – in the world. After seeing this million dollar bra, covered in bling bling and everything a number of things came to mind.

1. Considering the price of this bra, does that permit who ever wears it to just walk around the streets in it? or will u still wear cloths over it? i mean, its still underwear right?

2. If i wore that kinda bra, i certainly wouldnt want to wear a bra that i’d wear constantly living in fear on someone grabbing at my boobs, like seriously… I’d hav to think of hiring bodyguards every time i wear that bra.

3. Does this bra increase your breasts, make them firmer, produce more breast milk… like seriously, what exactly is making this fantasy bra all about? is’nt it just all too vain?

4. This one bra could feed and educate alot of hungry children somewhere.

Finally, all i can say is Thank God am a D-cup, so i have no interest in this B-cup bra (i think). LOL! Hallelujah for myself and the rest of the D-cup femmes in the World!!!

The cat eye is one of the hottest looks this fall! Cat eyes are seductive and it looks great on pretty much anyone so it couldn’t hurt to try it out, right?? This technique requires a steady hand hence the practice! The liquid liner gives the most dramatic look but it is pretty easy for one to mess it up. I recommend the Revlon ColorStay Liquid Eye Pen or the Maybelline Eye Studio Master Drama Liner(which I will be using). This can be done in 4 easy steps.

1.  Start off with a nicely moisturized face and a good eye primer.

2. Draw an outline of how you want your cat eye be formed with your eye liner.

3.  Fill in the area with either your pencil, a cream liner, a gel liner or a liquid liner. I used a cream liner.

4.  Draw an even line to the lower lash line then connect to the upper lash line. Use mascara to complete the look.

• If there is any excess, you can wipe off using a cotton swab dipped in  makeup remover or use a liquid foundation covered swab to even out the lines and cover up mistakes(this is if you used liquid foundation.)
• Try to keep the rest of your makeup as natural as possible if you are going for a day look but red lips will look awesome at night!
• If drawing a line proves difficult, draw a series of dashes, then connect them.
• False lashes give it a more sophisticated look.
• You could also use eye shadows along with this look. Have fun with it!!

We all want that look that is not stressful, that could take 10 minutes or less and maybe just simple on days when we probably woke up really late, days we have to get to class or work and do not have time for “frivolous” makeup! My dear, you definitely do not want to head outside looking like that to work. You really want to have a well-rested and fresher appearance.

• Eye shadows should be subtle, neutral and soft. Using a highlighter all over your lids also gives your eyes a brightening effect.
• Look for a two in one product like a cream blush that can be used as a lip color which is a time-saving tactic.
• You could also use the highlighter to play up on your cheekbones and put on some mascara to make your eyes look awake.
• Another speedy way to get your makeup done in 5 minutesor less is to put on a little blush or bronzer on your cheekbones, dab on some concealer under your eyes, put on some mascara(with an eyeliner, if you have the time) plus a little bit of lipgloss and Voila! You are good to go, missy!

What every lady should have in her makeup kit

Hey, guys!! I just wanted to share a list of basic makeup items I think every lady should have. Now you certainly do not have to wear them all at once everyday but these are elements that should be in your little makeup bag.

• Primer: You definitely need a really good primer in your makeup kit. A primer makes your skin smooth and ready for the foundation. Recommended products are MAC Prep+Prime Skin, Smashbox PhotoFinish Primer and Laura Geller Makeup Primer.

• Foundation: You will want to purchase a good foundation that is the RIGHT shade for your skin. The easiest way I have found to check for my correct shade of foundation is trying it along your jawline. If it pretty much disappears as you apply it, then that’s your shade, boo! I LOVE LOVE LOVE Kevyn Aucoin’s Sensual Skin Enhancer! It’s pretty pricey($45), I know but I can guarantee you that it will last for a LONG time because you do not need to apply a whole lot on your face as it is highly pigmented. Other recommended products are MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Foundation, MAC Studio Fix Foundation and CoverGirl Simply Powder Foundation.

• Blush: Blush is used to mimic a natural glow and it has to look subtle. Blushes come in the form of powder , cream or gel. Most people use powders but cream blushes actually have better staying power(you can also use them for lip-color!). Peachy colors are great for light skin, rosewood pink or coral for medium/tan skin while deep colors like red or really deep pink for darker skin shades. I personally have fallen in love with Black Radiance Artisan Color Baked Blush (Warm Berry). NARS Blush in Orgasm and Revlon Matte Powder BLush are also really good choices too.

• Lip Stick/Lip Gloss: Need I say more? Every woman should have at least two really good lipsticks, one nude and the other red in the shade that fits your skin tone(And yes! Everyone CAN wear red lipstick. You just need to find the right shade, booboo!) I am crazy about Maybelline Color Sensational Lipsticks because they are moisturizing and they last for quite a while. Others worthy of mention are NARS Semi-Matte Lipstick and Milani Lipstick

• Mascara: You sooo cannot say you have a makeup kit/bag without a good mascara! One or two mascaras are fine i.e one mascara that lengthens and adds volume to your lashes or two different mascaras(one that lengthens and the other that adds volume). CoverGirl Exact Eyelights Mascara, Maybelline Falsies Mascara and L’Oreal Extra Volume Collagen Mascara are certainly good mascaras.

• Eyeliners: I absolutely love eyeliners! Depending on how you apply it, it gives the eyes a “wide-open” look or just make them stand out. You can choose between the liquid eyeliners or the cream/gel liners. The cream/gel eyeliners are usually much easier to use but the liquid liners are more dramatic. Maybelline Eye Studio Master Drama Liner is a great buy for under $10. Others are Revlon ColorStay Liquid Liner, and Milani eyeliners.

• Makeup Wipes:  Makeup wipes are like the easiest way to take off makeup. I currently use Clean & Clear Makeup Dissolving Wipes and they are really good! Neutrogena Deep Cleansing Makeup Remover Wipes, Garnier Nutritioniste Wet Cleansing Towelettes, and Olay Daily Facials Express for sensitive skin are also ideal choices.

So these are what I think should be in every lady’s makeup bag. Now, I excluded concealers because not everyone needs to wear them. Do you think there are other essentials I might have left out? Just leave your comment below!
