Popular Nigerian musician Timaya has broke the news of the birth of a bouncing baby girl by his partner on twitter. Timaya has kept the identity of  his baby mama under wraps for quite sometime, but he could not contain his joy as he tweet a picture of the bouncing baby girl this morning.  In the tweet he said: “Wow am now a father, thank u jehova for d birth of my cute daughter…”

Wearing an AsakeOge dress from the Afrolosphy collection she looked stunning and not a day older than 30 even though she is 10 years older. The dress is made from satin taffeta with an exaggerated shoulder sleeves and red sequin detail down the front. She paired the look with red clutch and black heel with a red accent.

African witchdoctors can do wonders. This man was caught in Nairobi, Kenya having sex with someone’s wife in a guest house. Even the police could not rescue him from the black magic that left him stuck between the legs of another man’s wife. You really have to see this believe it. Unbelievable!

The ability to keep going even when everyone is mocking you is something most of us admire. Vic O. has proved to us that he does not need anyone’s approval to do his thing.

An Ex Nigerian international and member of the 1980 Nations cup winning squad, Adokiye Amiesimaka has blasted the Nigerian Football Federation for abandoning Rashidi Yekini in his latter years.

In a statement, Adokiye Amiesimaka said: “It is so sad for such a heroic ex-international player; scorer of Nigeria’s first World Cup goal and the first Nigerian to win the Africa Player of the Year Award to have been left alone like that”

Sources say that that  over the years, Rashidi Yekini was bedridden for a protracted time. He eventually lost battle to an undisclosed neurological defect on Friday. Rashidi Yekini was buried according to Muslim rites in his home town of Ira, Kwara on saturday

As news of his death filtered through social media networks and blogs on the internet yesterday, there was a part of me that prayed that the news was not true. But knowing about his recent troubles and declining health (read our story here), the story of his death would probably have come as no surprise to some of us.

A slow starter, Rashidi did not start scoring consistently for Nigeria until he was coached by Dutch Man Clemens Westerhof. But saying that, his goal scoring record at club was enviable by all standards. At Victoria Setubal, a Portugese club where he spent most of his playing career, Rashidi Yekini scored a whopping 93 goals in 122 appearances.

One will not really know what killed Yekini, but it was obvious that after retiring from football he had personal problems that caused him to shut people out of his life. In 2010, he was chosen as a Nigerian Ambassador to the World Cup in South Africa but he refused to submit his passport at the request of Nigerian Football officials.

MEMORABLE: Rashidi Yekini's celebration for scoring Nigeria's first goal at the World Cup is one that we would never forget

Despite all the stories we heard about his mental state and his decline in his latter years, I will like to remember Yekini for the patriot he was. Passionate, committed and resilient, Rashidi Yekini was a man who represented Nigeria with great character. If you did not have the opportunity to watch Rashidi Yekini play in his prime, then you probably missed the best times we had in the history of Nigerian football.

Sadly, Rashidi Yekini would not get a state funeral someone of his calibre deserves because he is be buried quickly according to Muslim rites. I believe he has left a legacy for Nigerian football, something I think most of our young and up coming footballers can learn from. Now that Rashidi Yekini has gone to rest, who will break that 37 goals scoring record he set while playing for the Super Eagles of Nigeria? Who is committed enough to fill his boots? Who?
