Give Sony a Spanking (Explicit Vocab)

by Jide Ladipo on September 2, 2009

What is it about these people and Nigeria? It’s like everyone just likes to take a dig at this nation with every given opportunity. Oprah, several American broadcasters, Now SONY???

It was a rude shock when we got the tip that SONY just placed an advert about its new slim PS on the internet. Apparently in a bid to boost its sales, sony placed a funny line (Not so funny after all) in its advert, saying:

“YOU CAN’T BELIEVE EVERYTHING YOU READ ON THE INTERNET, OTHERWISE YOU WOULD BE A NIGERIAN MILLIONAIRE BY NOW”!!!

Is that supposed to be funny? Can some tell these “basterds” to stick their finger up where it belongs? Up their ass.

So the advert features a fat fuck looking idiot called Bernie Bunclan (Dude looks like he drank one milkshake too many) and Kevin Butler (This one looks a divorcée who plays with his dick all night).

Bernie asks Kevin over a video link to confirm or deny whether the new PS 3 is $299 dollars. Kevin says you can’t believe everything you read on the internet otherwise you would be a Nigerian millionaire by now. What a crap line!

So SONY is suppose to be using Nigeria as an example about what to believe or not? Come on then!!! This company has more dirt than a toilet that has not been flushed for days. LMAO!!!

Well, here are some interesting facts about “almighty angelic halo over my head” SONY.
Sony is among the companies who have chosen to remain financially involved in Burma despite the potential of any business to directly or indirectly strengthen the illegal military junta there. Source: Burma Forum Los Angeles

In a 2001 report done by Human Rights Watch which analyzed the 23 complaints filed since 1994 when NAFTA was enacted, Sony was named as a violator of workers’ rights in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico. Source: Human Rights Watch, April 16, 2001

Sony is listed in a Government Accounting Office database of more than 900 publicly traded companies that have restated their financial results because of accounting irregularities since the beginning of 1997. Sony was listed for a 2001 restatement for revenue recognition related issues. Source: Government Accounting Office Source: Government Accounting Office

In August 2001 the Japanese Fair Trade Commission (FTC) accused Sony of pressuring retailers to sell software for its PlayStation video games at fixed prices and through specific retail channels, thereby violating fair trade laws. Source: Cnet News

So SONY is not so clean after all, Perhaps SONY wants to clean its own toilet before it starts using Nigeria as some sort of standard. Without a doubt, Nigeria may have a collective few that do scams on the internet but scams are all over the world. Pointing out and stigmatising a country is not something ethical. Not only is it irresponsible, it shows how far some corporate bodies can go in the name of profit. Amebor.com considers this disrespectful and unacceptable.

We therefore urge SONY (Howard Stringer hope you are reading this) to pull out this advert. Or else, YAWA GO GAS (Don’t take on what is bigger than you)!

AMEBOR.COM…..U MESS WITH AFRICA, U MESS WITH US ,AND BOY U DON’T WANNA DO THAT!

Isn’t it true? We all know its very true. If you want to say stuff, you shouldn’t be talking about sony, you should talk about the Nigerian scammers. We are not all the same but people tend to generalize this days. Most of this people only know Nigeria because of the scam that comes from there. So what do you expect them to say?

people say there is many good things that comes out of Nigeria, do you really see or read of it in the media?

Until people start to change and want to work hard or make money honestly, the stereotype about most nigerians will continue.

I am Nigerian and to be honest i stay clear of some Nigerians because i don’t want to get my name in the mud.

All you read about Nigerian’s are mostly negative which is true.

For instance, the case of the girl that got caught in Laos for trying to smuggle heroin into the country, she was British-Nigerian. Thank God she had British nationality she would have died in jail. People like that put one more black spot on Nigeria.

Think of all the things that go on in the world and honestly think of how many good things that Nigerians are known for?

Until then this will go on and as for me being Nigerian, I live an honest live and add to one of the people that represent my country in a good way.
