NEW YORK, NY – July 8, 2010 – On Friday, July 16th, 9pm – 2am, Mon Utopie Idéale | PR (M.U.I.|PR) , a boutique public relations (PR) firm in New York City ( NYC) will host the official launch of Rookie Photography and the celebration of African Fashion, Music and Photography Rocks (AFMPR) at a private Manhattan loft.

Founded 6 months ago by Wole Onafowora, Rookie Photography recognizes that there is more that meets the eye when it comes to photography. According to Onafowora, what sets his studio apart from others is “the rookie photography studio never shies away from using imagination to produce images that will become a new pulse to something or an inspiration for
someone”. Onafowora adds that “Rookie Photography can be seen as the new megaphone for images that incorporate artistic concepts and commercial styles of photography”.

AFMPR, a vibrant grassroots campaign aimed at the development and recognition of African art professionals in Fashion, Music and Photography will premiere new images from Rookie Photography’s portfolio book, new designs by three fashion houses—Kreatif Designs, Roshe Dousuah and Studio Alade— and new records by two rising international artists—Kanja “The
Afrikan” King and Sheilla “Safari” Akwara.

The crux of AFMPR campaign stems from the idea that an African renaissance in the arts will only reach critical mass when that revolution links together massive intertwining communities of imminent African fashion designers with a growing band of fresh, new African artisan musicians and photographers driven to higher levels. Ijeoma Genevieve Mbamalu, proprietor of M.U.I|PR clarified, “the expansive platform AFMPR rests on is the right vehicle to show everyone what they have always known about Africa(ns)…that there’s more than meets the eye”. Onafowora adds “ AFMPR will pay homage to the magnificent and alluring industry of African culture; one that already exists but is unbeknownst to the world”.

Truly, this is an event not to be missed. In one night M.U.I.|PR and Rookie Photography will eloquently deploy the knowledge base of Africans and pool the intellectual and capital resources of African artists in a way that has never been done before. As a result, the affair is designed for urban intellectuals (irrespective of ethnicity) interested in cultivating their knowledge base to see the beauty that is Africa.
