In a twist of tales, Chairman of the House of Representatives probe panel on fuel subsidy mismanagement, Farouk Lawan, has said that he accepted $500,000 from billionaire businessman, Femi Otedola to expose him. Farouk had initially said that he did not meet with or receive any bribe from anybody.
Sources say that his change of stance might be because a video of him collecting the bribe has already been circulated among the power brokers in Nigeria.
STORY CHANGE: Farouk Lawan has changed his side of the story
According to The PUNCH newspaper, a video recording of a transaction between Lawan and Otedola has been shown to President Goodluck Jonathan, Vice-President Namadi Sambo, former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Senate President David Mark and House Speaker Aminu Tambuwal. This we believe is enough to have caused Farouk to change his story.
In what seems like a set up operation, Otedola had revealed to the press how he involved Nigerian security agents to supervise Lawan’s persistent demand for a bribe from him.
